Success stories
Country singer Codie Prevost understood from the get-go that success in the music business takes two kinds of skills – as a musician, and as a business person. That's why, when he turned to Community Futures for assistance in recording his first album, he was able to present a viable and effective business plan. Since then, Codie has gone from success to success – taking time to support Community Futures along the way.
Codie Prevost, rising star of country music
"Without Community Futures, I wouldn't be where I am today," he says. "They could see my potential and that meant everything." Since then, Codie's music career has taken off. His debut CD went on to win the 2006 "Album of the Year" award from the Saskatchewan Country Music Association (SCMA). Codie also won the SCMA's 2006 "Rising Star" award, and has won two SCMA "Fans' Choice Entertainer of the Year" awards.
In the summer of 2007, Codie performed in Nashville as part of the Country Music Awards (CMA) festival where he was reviewed as a "gifted singer, songwriter and guitarist – with the charm and charisma to match"! In 2010 he released his second CD, "Get Loud," which included the hit single "Rolling Back to You." That was the same year that he appeared at the highly acclaimed SxSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas.
"Even though it might seem obvious to say this, when you are starting out in the business world, you have to start somewhere," says Codie. "And Community Futures is a great place to start! I met people there who believed in me enough to help me along the way."
