Meet Codie Prevost

Rising star of country music gives back to Community Futures.

Codie Prevost’s music career is beginning to take off! Sure, he owes his newfound success to talent, hard work and the star quality that is fast making him the darling of country music. But he also got a big break from his local Community Futures, in the form of a business loan that allowed him to get to Nashville and record his first CD: “The Road Ahead”. And that’s why he’s throwing his Stetson into the ring this year to support Community Futures and tell his story.

“Without Community Futures, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” he says. “They could see my potential and that meant everything.” Since then, Codie’s music career has taken off. His debut CD went on to win the 2006 “Album of the Year” award from the Saskatchewan Country Music Association. Codie also won the SCMA’s 2006 “Rising Star” award, and his music has received airplay on over 155 radio stations worldwide.

In the summer of 2007, Codie performed in Nashville as part of the Country Music Awards (CMA) festival where he was reviewed as a “gifted singer, songwriter and guitarist – with the charm and charisma to match”! So far, Codie and his band are already nominated for 10 new country music awards and are just releasing a new CD.

“Even though it might seem obvious to say this, when you are starting out in the business world, you have to start somewhere,” says Codie. “And Community Futures is a great place to start! I met people there who believed in me enough to help me along the way.”

That’s why Codie is the spokesperson for a major Community Futures promotion designed to inspire confidence in “the road ahead” for others.
